I didn’t even realize I had a writing ritual until I read this article. I am currently working on a novel. Before I actually started writing it, but after I had created my plot lines and character list, I created a power point slideshow that I watch before setting to work writing. The slideshow includes photos of famous actors that I imagine in the roles of my characters, and images of scenery that I pulled off of the internet, all set to appropriate music. The slideshow helps get my brain back into the setting of my novel. Once the slideshow is complete, I put on my “writing music” and follow my mind as it leads me to the words.
